Assessment
An assessment normally includes the following:
-
the administration of psychometric tests (some of these may seem more like different activities or games)
-
screeners/ questionnaires (e.g. about your feelings, or your development)
-
interview ( or conversation) with you and your parents
In my current work, I specialise in the following types of
assessments:
-
cognitive ability of young people/adults
-
specific or general learning difficulties
-
attentional dysregulation, e.g. Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) (I'm in the process of establishing a multi-disciplinary assessment process with psychiatry to ensure NICE guidelines abidance)
-
mental health, such as anxiety, low mood etc.
-
systemic issues.
Depending on the nature of the assessment, it can take anything between 2 to 4 hours. On some occasions, a second appointment may be necessary. After the assessment, I will provide feedback to you/your parents and following this, write a report that further details the assessment and outcomes of the same. Waiting times for reports are approx. 4 weeks at present.
