Welcome
My name is Julia and I am an Educational Psychologist. I am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and currently based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I completed my Doctorate in Educational, Child & Adolescent Psychology at Queen's University Belfast in 2015.

Since my graduation, I was blessed to work within a private capacity at John Eakin & Associates where I first established myself as a practitioner psychologist.

After the completion of my doctorate, I worked for the Education Authority where I mainly assessed children who were in the education system, in order to support schools to help these children achieve their potential.

However, I missed the opportunity to build relationships and support young people and their families with other difficulties such as mental health. Consequently, I was very fortunate in obtaining a position with the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS, Belfast) as a specialist practitioner psychologist. My work in CAMHS includes psychological assessment, but also comprised the provision of therapeutic support to young people, parents and their families. I worked for CAMHS from 2018 until September 2022. Currently, I focus on my private practice and do some remote work for the Dyslexia Centre as well as for councils in England.

In addition to my doctorate and consistent with professional guidelines stipulated by the HCPC and BPS, I have continued to develop my skills also completed training including the following:

-
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (Level 1)
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
-
Mentalization-based Therapy for adolescents (MBT-A)
-
Mentalization-based Therapy for children (MBT-C)
-
Excellence in Report Writing for expert witnesses (Bond Solon)
-
Courtroom Skills for expert witnesses (Bond Solon)
-
ASD assessment (Trinity College)
-
Supervision Skills (accredited by the BPS)

I typically work therapeutically with children, young people and their families, but offer educational assessments across the life span.

I currently offer face-to-face assessments and therapy sessions in Belfast, but can also provide online support when this is preferred.
